Solar hot water heaters are eligible for both the Federal Residential Energy Efficient Property Tax Credit and the South Carolina Solar Energy System Credit.
These credits can offset the price of a solar hot water system up to 55% of the cost.
Combine these savings with your energy savings (up to 30% of you utility bill) and the system pays for itself within 3 to 5 years.
Although solar pool heaters are not eligible for the tax credits, electric and gas savings are such that they pay for your system in an average of 3 years.
